`Ōlelo Hawai`i - `Iokepa De Santos

`Iokepa, a descendant of the `Ai`ai and the Kauahi`okaluaopele lineage, resides on Ka Pu`u O Pele, which overlooks what once, used to be Ka`elepulu Fishpond. He is presently a Community Building Inspector at Queen Lili`uokalani Children's Center, and has integrated Hawaiian cultural values and practices in the Family Program at Hina Mauka. `Iokepa, a musician of 30 + years, has taught Hawaiian Ensemble in the Music Department in addition to Hawaiian Studies in the Center for Hawaiian Studies at UH, Mānoa. He has also taught Social Studies, Guidance, Music, and Hula at Kula Kaiapuni `O Ānuenue Hawaiian Language Immersion School. He has also taught Hawaiian language at Kapi`olani Community College and UH, Mānoa.
`Iokepa has compose many chants & mele use by numerous hālau in various hula competitions, and has also composed chants for the Queen Lili`uokalani Children's Center and community groups throughout Ko`olau Poko. He has been a Hawaiian culture and language consultant for many Hawaiian recording groups, hula hālau, Hawaiian organizations, and community agencies. `Iokepa currently conducts workshops and presentations on traditional Hawaiian values, language, chant, history, music, and culture throughout Hawai`i and the world.
